Being created by MalberS Animations I did have high expectations for these dragons, and I was not disappointed.

The models are amazing with a large set of really good animations.

First of all you get 3 different dragon models, The baby dragon, the standard one, and a large dragon.

There are 4 different styles for the dragons. PolyArt, Realistic, Simple and Toon. Each style then have 5 different materials, so there’s a lot of options for the look of your dragons.

As if that wasn’t enough there’s also dragon eggs, and animations for hatching the eggs.

The package also includes a legacy version of MalberS Animal Controller. It’s a really good controller and while the included one is good enough it’s not supported and don’t have all the features of the stand alone version. I’m not going to review the controller here since it’s rather extensive and this is just a quick look at the model.

Demo scene

The basic demo scene shows all the dragons with their animations.

In addition to the basic demo scene that is always available, there are also 2 different sets of demo scenes depending on which controller you chose to use.

For best results the author recommends that you use MalberS Animal Controller. It’s really good, but it’s a paid asset. If you don’t want to spend that extra money a legacy version of that controller is included in the package.

Legacy Controller

There are three different demo scenes for the Legacy controller. They do a good job at showing the capabilities of the controller. I think this is a really nice AI system if you want to have animals walking around and interacting with the environment. You can have your dragon wander between different waypoints, and on some of those you could trigger events, like eating, playing, of whatever you want the dragon to do.

It is a fairly complex system, so expect to spend some time learning it. It’s not that it’s difficult, it’s just that it can do a lot. I think it’s well designed and easy to understand.

MalberS Animal Controller

If you own the animal controller you have access to 6 demo scenes. These are more refined than the ones for the legacy controller and gives you a bit more to explore. All in all they make a good job in demonstrating how the controller can be used.

Summary

The dragons really live up to the name Little dragons. Imagine them the size of a Tiger and you won’t be too far off.

They do scale well, so if you want them bigger that’s no problem.

I like these dragons. Currently I have no idea what to do with them. But if you need a some dragons for your project this is a really nice option. They look great and the included animal controller makes them come to life without you having to code the AI yourself. I would not hesitate to buy them if I needed them. In my case I got them included in some bundle so I’ve just been playing around with them for fun 🙂
